OK, now this may be a rural myth, but I have read that the EU has what it calls an Installation Assistance Scheme whereby it pays out a grant to people wanting to change career and become farmers but who need help with the start-up costs.
Can't find any mention of it on the DEFRA web site but from what I have read it is paid out to entrant farmers in France regularly.
Anyone over there heard anything about it or could have a look at the French equivalent of the DEFRA site and see if it is mentioned there.

Just thought it might be worth investigating, you never know with the EU, stranger things have come and gone with them in the past.

Cheers

Tim

I'm told by my good friend who knows these things, you have to be under 41 and starting a new farm to get the grant. (If we are talking of the same grant of course.)

I'm too old.

Well, I'm twice as good looking as I was when I was 41! (That's 'cos I'm twice the size...)

No, only joking really.
